The oldest and largest fine arts festival in Mid-Missouri is held around the lake at Columbia's Stephens Lake Park. Capped at 110 artists, Art in the Park promotes the fact that this is a buying opportunity for art patrons. Art activities, entertainment for children, a food court, and roving musicians and magicians augment the main event: the fine arts and crafts. Ample public parking plus a free shuttle bus service to the park. Free admission.

The Annual SantaCaliGon® Days Festival in Independence, Missouri, commemorates the origin of the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon trails during the country's great westward expansion in the 1800s by adventurous pioneers. Today more than 250,000 attendees celebrate family & fun over Labor Day Weekend. This year marks the 53rd festival celebration of music, food, arts, crafts, and dance, reflecting today and yesterday. There is NO admission charge to festival grounds or for concerts.
