The German Christmas Market of New Jersey is a non-profit foundation with the purpose of creating a community event in Sussex County, New Jersey that celebrates the Christmas Holiday and raises funds to distribute back into the community.
The German Christmas Market at Sussex County was brought to life in 2001 by a handful of volunteers desiring to recreate an authentic German Christmas Market, with which they were familiar , with the intention to raise funds for local Sussex County, NJ charities. It is now recognized as the largest annual Christmas Market in the State of New Jersey, and the only German Christmas Market in the USA whose sole mission is to donate back into the community. It has become a very popular fixture in the local region. .
The German Christmas Market of NJ is organized and run by volunteers. All money collected through booth and ticket sales is used to pay fees for services, and the remaining funds are donated to local charities. Several local businesses donate their time and services for free or at a reduced rate in order to make this magical holiday event come to life the first full weekend of each December.
