I have been painting since I was 14 when I first received an oil painting set from my aunt.  I painted in oils for years when I then turned to watercolor after taking a 2 hour class at a local Library about 15 years ago.  I have been painting watercolors ever since and love the fact that I can take my small round paint palette wherever I go especially on planes.  I love painting landscapes since living in Colorado a good part of my life, where I began painting mountains, evergreens, aspen trees and snow scenes.  I love to paint flowers in any medium because of variety of shapes and colors, and I’m particularly inspired by flower gardens and ponds.

I’m working toward becoming a Certified Watercolorist and Illustrator through the Morton Arboretum.  It’s a structured class that may take a couple of years, but I hope to finish sooner and by completing a portfolio of watercolors and drawings in pencil, pen and colored pencil for viewing and judging.   The painting and drawings for these classes were drawn and/or painted from live subject matter.  The challenge is to capture the subject before it changes or becomes withered, but sometimes this may make a new subject matter for a new drawing or painting.
