Enticing - Spirited - Clever - Unexpected
"subtle, precise and virtuosic"
Oboe, bassoon, piano, percussion and voice make up the sounds of the award winning ensemble, Madera Vox. Their music is distinctive, exuberant, and engaging. This jaunty and virtuosic indie- classical band has audiences standing up cheering.
The group combines the likes of Kurt Weill, Kurt Cobain, Chick Corea, original compositions, as well as poetry and recitations into their refreshing take on live music today.
A major influence for Madera Vox has been the music of the mid-twentieth century German-American composer Kurt Weill, who said: "I have never acknowledged the difference between 'serious' music and 'light' music. There is only good music and bad music." A recent reviewer says, "Madera Vox knows the difference."
With credits from Broadway to Carnegie Hall and European stages, the group and its members are well recorded and can also be heard on numerous film scores.
