This is a study of mud. This oil painting depicts the wonderful mud of Estancia, NM. The green pickup truck slid off the road, as many a vehicle has in the past on these fantastically muddy county roads. The young cowboy slipped and fell on his way to meet the pickup truck driver. The Mud Muse is entering a small adobe abode, attracted to the wonderful aroma of a fresh cup of high mountain pinon coffee. As in any home built on the hilly prairies around Estancia, muddy footprints are being tracked inside. Featured as well are the little burrowing owl and the prairie dog, and the ever present goat and cow found on so many neighboring ranches. The mailbox is in typical pose. The rancher and his dog are walking back to the house, hoping to catch the mud muse unaware. This painting is on heavy canvas, hand-stretched around a very heavy duty wood frame.
