Most of my work has impressionistic attributes: imprecise lines, colors driven by intent and topics that are common but unique in interpretation or perspective. My prints tend to be calming, contemplative and quiet but on occasion, I create big, bold, bright images, as well. It typically takes from 2-5 days of concentrated work and 10-15 iterations, before a piece “settles” into a gestalt that satisfies me. At that point, only subtle nuances are added. I know when images are finished when further effort detracts from my vision for the piece.
Successful art, for me, needs to be “more than pixel perfect.” It must convey what moves, stills, surprises and refreshes me.
Technically, I use many programs, images, layers, textures, colors and borders to seamlessly blend the elements into its final, cohesive form. Prints are made in common sizes, ready for matting and framing. I only use archival papers and inks.
