My paintings, both representational and abstract, are fueled by emotion. What I feel plays a big part in how I paint and what I paint. Some people remember facts, things, and words. I tend to be more tuned in to how I feel. My art is an expression of my romantic, playful, whimsical, bright, goofy, and sometimes moody self.
I collect images, objects, experiences, and other random things that inspire me, but even if I start with a finished composition in my head, many times the painting will guide me, so I let it. I surprise myself on a regular basis. Working in Acrylics with collage elements, sometimes an idea comes to me from playing with the objects, sometimes an idea has already started in my head from an experience that inspired it, and sometimes when I'm trying to go to sleep a painting pops into my head that I then have to get up and sketch out.
