I'm Ailene Vrana MacDougall – “In chaos, there's balance. In freedom, there's mystery”
A Toronto-born artist, currently resides in Innisfil, Ontario, Canada.
Throughout her adult life, Ailene expressed her creativity through traditional paintings in oils, acrylics, and pen & ink, primarily focusing on landscape and cityscape themes.
Here successful corporate career founded by a degree in Chemistry and MBA in Marketing & Market Research displayed Ailene's ability to convey complex information creatively and engagingly as a key factor in her professional journey. This is a recurring theme as her artistic evolution sees her embracing the freedom of abstract art, exploring diverse mediums and techniques, while bringing order and detail to the chaos.
A largely self-taught artist, Ailene, now is finally able to dedicate her time to pursuing her artistic self full time.
As a proud member of the Barrie Art Club (BAC) in Ontario, Canada, she actively contributes to the local artistic community. Most recently she won first place in the 2024 BAC September People's Choice with her work – “Montreal Fall Jazz”.
From Ailene; "As an adopted child, I always wondered about the origin of my artistic and creative inclinations. In 2018, I reunited with my birth mother, who had spent her entire career in the art industry, providing the answer to that question! "Expressing her ongoing artistic journey, Ailene adds, "I love color, and my recent struggle has been to relinquish control to the abstract creative process. Shifting my focus from landscapes, I revel in the freedom to create vibrant works that can transform the spaces they inhabit. There is link between my corporate life of building stories from myriads of data and inputs and how I approach my art. Bringing structure to chaos."
