Mar Lizarraga, the mexican born singer originating from Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico is kin to the founder of one of the most well known bandas in all of Mexico and the United States Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizarraga. Even though she comes from a long line of professional musicians, things weren't always that easy for her in the United States. Don't let her famous last name fool you she has put in the hard work and paid her dues just like the rest of us. "She learned to sing before she could talk", says her mother. "I have early recordings of her at 2 years old singing to nursery rhymes in Spanish", she adds. Mar started singing professionally at the age of 14 and by the age of 17 she was became the lead singer of a California based Country group called The Southern Comfort Band which toured the club circuit in the late 90's. I have been singing all of my life says Mar. I don't know a life where singing wasn't in it. Mar has so many irons in the fire right now and says that with all the bad things that came with Covid she credits the lockdowns that allowed her to slow down a bit and concentrate on new material, new songs, a new show and it gave her time to record what she calls her pandemic project "Con Carino Bonito", a 12 song mariachi album which she will be releasing the first of its singles on July3rd of this year and the full album in September which will also include a very fun video of one of the songs on the album. . Some of her other projects in the works include a re-release of a 11 song pop record that she recorded 20 years ago of all original songs..
