Northville has a true gem in its midst: the Northville Art House. The passion and hard work of volunteers over many years have created an incredible cultural destination in our small town that is quickly earning the reputation as one of the best art centers in metro Detroit.
The mission of the Art House: to cultivate the arts through educational programs and creative experience
Our success is growing. The Art House exhibits are frequently highlighted in the Detroit Free Press' “Play” section as one of the “Best of the Best” things to see in the Detroit area. The Detroit News included the Northville Art House in a recent article about ten small galleries that are making a big impact in the metro Detroit art community. Our shows highlight prominent Detroit area artists as well as group shows by our members; juried shows attracting submissions from all over the midwest; and work by students in the Northville schools.
Art House classes are also gaining great reputations as we attract talented instructors and students of all ages who want to experiment, learn and grow. With cuts to arts education in the schools, we realize we are an important resource for parents and students who want to expand their instruction and we take this responsibility seriously.
The Northville Art House is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are extremely grateful that the City of Northville allows us the use of our building, but we must rely on donations, class registrations and sales to stay open. Special events such as the annual “Arts and Acts Festival” in Northville to help support us and our upkeep of the building, but we need the continued help of community members to fulfill our mission.
So stop by the Art House, see an exhibit, take a class, get involved, and support this metro Detroit treasure.
Everyone is welcome at the Art House. We offer a variety of programs and services to make the Art House accessible to you. If you would like to view one of our exhibits and are a person with disabilities, please contact us to make arrangements to bring the art to our lower gallery or another accessible building.
