Member Since: November 3, 2014
Festival biz experience: 8+ years
Waynesville,, North Carolina
Rene Russell is a 12-string guitarist, with an Americana-Folk-Rock percussive groove. She has been crafting her percussive, bass-thumping, claw-hammer finger-picking technique since she picked up the 12-string in 1972.

A native of South Carolina, Rene Russell has been dazzling audiences with her brand of percussive Americana/Rock for the past 30+ years from Nashville to San Diego, Atlanta to Austin, Texas. Rene not only writes her own material, but performs it with the passion and precision only a dedicated artist is capable of.

In the summer of 2022, Rene decided it was time for a reset, so she left Charleston, SC and moved to the mountains of Western NC where she has been writing and performing. This led to an auspicious meeting. In 2023, Rene met 2 other gifted solo artists; Bridget Gossett and Heidi Holton at a Nashville style Songwriters Round, they quickly bonded over music and began writing together, they now have a trio called, The HiHiearts.
They began working with Michael Hynes at Nomatic Studio and recording at Purple Ridge Recording Studio in Canton, NC. As of January 2024, The HiHearts have recorded 2 singles, “Swim” drops April 19, 2024 and “Hocus Focus” will be available this summer. All 3 of the these ladies have separate solo careers.

In 2024, Rene Russell released 2 new singles “The Key” March 23, 2024 and “Stand” a song for the ocean, on April 19, 2024, with an album to follow in Fall of 2024.
