Rodger Delany, Copper Canyon, TX
The Story
Sometimes it takes two steps to get to Texas. In 2010, Rodger Delany left the comfort of his band to “find his own voice” trading his electric guitar for an old acoustic. The next couple of years were highlighted with acoustic shows of all sizes - coffee shops in South Jersey, Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA, legendary clubs in Philly and a famous little bar on Bleecker Street in New York City. Along the way, Rodger released “Moment of Truth” – an all acoustic CD highlighted by the title track and the piano ballad “Mischief.”
The second step to Texas involved a big decision and a long ride in a Jeep to move “two thirds of the way across the county.” In 2014, Rodger Delany and his family moved from a small town in South Jersey to the sprawling metropolis in North Texas. The goal was simple – “to find a better life in Texas.”
At the Toyota Music Factory in late 2021, Rodger Delany introduced “Before I Let Go” – a new CD combining the raw emotion of a singer/songwriter with layers of electric guitars, keyboards, drums and percussion. The Rodger Delany Band featuring Chris Ritchie on bass and Chris Babler playing drums can be seen performing at premier venues all around the Dallas/Fort Worth area including a residency at Six Springs in Richardson, Texas.
In 2023, Rodger Delany was awarded "Most Original Style" for his performance of "Ray of Hope" and "Alright to Love (Christmas Again) in the Texas State Songwriter's Championship." In March 2024, Rodger Delany released "Angels Gathering," an emotional piano ballad collaboration.

“Reveals a wide-ranging style…, hard edged style to quieter oaths…, convincing mood and emotion that matches the darker themes…, variety of arrangements… keeps this album engaging from start to end. Good songwriting, good performances, very good album.” (Before I Let Go CD) – Jim “The Professor” Price, Q94
