ART AS AN INVESTMENT

ART AS AN INVESTMENT
If you are wondering whether art is a good or bad investment, I think I can help you with that. When it comes to investing in art, you simply cannot go wrong. It just depends on what you are attempting to accomplish, from your investment. If you purchase an inexpensive print from your favorite local store,  or a print or original work of art from your local art gallery, you may simply be looking for artwork to match the color of your wall, furniture, drapes, etc. So maybe that purchase from your local store may suffice. But if you purchase a print or original work of art from an art gallery it naturally  will cost more, because galleries usually represent famous/and or professional artist. Shopping for art on online sites, provides you with a a wide range of choices, from the inexpensive to the most expensive. Some people buy artwork created by famous or well known artists. Which more than likely increase in value over the years. Some purchase their art work from lessor known or upcoming artists in hopes that the artist's work will someday become well known or famous. So purchase your artwork, and enjoy the beauty and pleasure it brings to your home, office or wherever you decide to hang it.               Roosevelt Clark - Artist

The Purpose Of Art

The Purpose Of Art
The famous late artist Picasso once said " The purpose of art is washing the dust off our souls". I don't know exactly what he meant by those words, but if I were to venture a guess, I think it would be safe to say, he meant whenever one is viewing art (or creating art, no matter the form or style), for a brief moment you are mentally transported to a place and time where your troubles, frustrations, stress, etc., no longer seem to exist or matter.

Art can almost simultaneously, allow one to visit places in the past, present, and future. It can change a sad mood to a joyful mood, it can turn strife in our lives to calmness. While it is not a cure-all for ones problems, or a long term "fix", for the period of time we spend viewing, creating or being involved in art, it can certainly enhance our lives.

Rules To/For Art

 Rules To/For Art
Some art instructors will impress upon their students the need to follow the 'rules of art'. Certainly the basics should be taught, but as for following certain rules, that decision should rest with the student. Attempting to restrict one's ambition to becoming a certain type of artist, only serve to handicap and limit one's creative ability. Once a person has received instructions in the traditions of art, then they should be allowed, and even encouraged to seek their own individualized style. We must not forget that art is a testimony to one's freedom.

What Is Art?

What Is Art?
This question has been asked many times over the years. It is a question that in my opinion requires no deep thought, or prolonged "soul searching" to answer. So whenever this particular question has been posed to me, I have always provided the questioner with essentially the same answer, "Art Is Everything". I do not say this to be flippant, or arrogant, but because I feel it is true. As an artist, I see art in everything. Every individual, animal, tree, plant, the seas, oceans, our beautiful skies, our magnificent universe, and let's not forget, some man made objects. I guess you can sum it all up, by coming to the realization that our Creator is the Greatest Artist Of Them All!      R. Clark
