Southern California Dulcimer Heritage will hold its 20th annual festival, Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Culver-Palms United Methodist Church, Culver City, CA. Exciting workshops, free mid-day concert, evening concert, open jamming, vendors and more will bring new and experienced players of hammered and fretted dulcimers together. The festival and the SCDH nonprofit organization also promote traditional music and include all acoustic instruments in jamming and specialized workshops. Featured instructor-performers will be mountain/fretted dulcimer virtuoso and builder Janita Baker and Ruth Smith and Steve Smith, nationally known for their outstanding hammered dulcimer arrangements with other instruments. All of these fine artists tour dulcimer festivals throughout the U.S. These artists will also present special 4-hour focus workshops on Sunday, Sept. 14. SCDH celebrates it's 20th anniversary as a nonproft organization sharing and promoting awareness, educational opportunities and enjoyment of both fretted/mountain and also hammered dulcimers and their historical international relatives.
