Troy MacGillivray is an accomplished fiddle and piano player who was born into a rich musical tradition and has been performing from a very young age across Canada, North America and all over the globe. With 6 CDs and several awards to his credit, Troy balances traditional Celtic tunes with his own internationally acclaimed compositions. His latest CD, Tune Poets, weaves some of Troy’s own compositions alongside fantastic and unique arrangements of great composers from the traditional fiddle world to present a wide and varied mix of music that will captivate fans old and new alike. Live At The Music Room was the East Coast Music Association's Instrumental Recording of the Year and Music Nova Scotia Traditional/Roots Recording of the Year. His recording, When Here Meets There, was a unique collaboration with Canadian & US National Fiddle Champion Shane Cook which won an East Coast Music Award for Roots/Traditional Group Recording of the Year. Troy has spent the years since these successful albums touring and teaching, keeping up a very busy schedule. In September 2012, Troy received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal commemorating his contribution and dedication to preserving and promoting arts and culture in Nova Scotia and Canada.
