The Vance County Tourism Department is engaged in the promotion of Henderson, Vance County and Kerr Lake, North Carolina. Henderson is centrally located off I-85 and US 1, just 40 minutes North of Raleigh/Durham. Kerr Lake is a beautiful 50,000 acre man-made recreational lake offering great fishing, boating, skiing, swimming and other related water activities. The lakes seven state parks offer camping, hiking, bird watching and nature study. The tourism department hosts and sponsors several events annually. They include the Independence Day Weekend Celebration featuring live entertainment and fireworks held at Kerr Lake in July and the Show, Shine, Shag & Dine car show along with its sister event, the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame & Reunion held each October in historic downtown Henderson.
