Velorio is a live performance band who play a variety of music including original Latin alternative music, cumbias, oldies, rock en espanol, and top 40 crowd pleasers.
As purveyors of fine traditional and updated Latin Alternative sounds performing up and down the west coast, the music of Velorio blurs the lines between traditions from the past to the present with a style and edge all their own.
Writing and recording original dance heavy, feel good music that touches both the soul and heart con sabor, it's an irresistible combination that's been proven and repeatedly put to the test since their inception a decade ago.
Heralded as one of Bakersfield and California's most talented and popular live acts, Velorio spends as much time on crafting new material as they do generating their buzz on and offstage. With an extensive national tour and countless statewide treks under their belt, their commitment to broadening their appeal caught the eyes and ears of national cable network SiTV who tapped the group to appear on their reality competition show “Jammin” that teamed the group with celebrity coach, Pitbull in 2008. The following year, MTV Tres featured the group helping establish their name as a contender among the new wave of Latin acts breaking new sonic ground.
A brief glance at Velorio's extensive festival and club performance resume includes sharing stages with some of Latin music's biggest names including: Carla Morrison, El Gran Silencio, Hoppo (featuring members of Café Tacuba), La Santa Cecilia, Panteon Rococo, Victimas Del Doctor Cerebro, Celso Pina, La Sonora Dinamita, Mento Buru, Little Joe y La Familia, Malo, Tierra, and The English Beat, showing off the group's ability to bring audiences of every demographic and musical taste together as lights dim onstage and the first note hits collective senses.
Performance venues include House of Blues, BB Kings Blues Clubs, The Roxy, Whiskey A Go-Go, Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, Hollywood Forever Cemetery, University of Oregon, Conga Room, and many more.
In addition to live performance, the band has also released an acclaimed full-length album and EP, available in both digital and physical formats.
Now with the release of the band's long-awaited, buzz-worthy new single “Tus Labios”, co-produced and recorded with help from Ozomatli bassist Wil-Dog Abers, the band is poised to garner a wealth of new fans along with radio play among longtime musical peers.
