The Wstern Maine Art Group was founded in 1962 by Hungarian Fine Arts Professor Lajos Matolcsy. In 1967, he founded the annual Norway Arts Festival. For decades this well-respected show has drawn thousands of artists, visitors and art buyers from all over New England.
This 2009 eclectic community arts festival features the 42nd Annual Norway Sidewalk Art Show, a juried event with fine arts -- paintings, photography, sculpture, fiber arts, fine crafts - purchase prizes and regular awards - over $5,000 awarded 2007 and $6,000 in 2008!! Music with a fiddle jam, regional musicians, a chem-free street dance, dancers performances, poetry, puppetry, mime, juggling, spinning/pottery demos and much more!
