This is a Pine Needle basket with a shed deer antler as a handle. I drilled a hole in the antler on both ends and secured it tightly in the basket. The basket was started on a base made with a slab of Indian Paint Stone set in Resin. The stone was obtained from old stock from someone who got it before Death Valley was a national park. That is the only way you can get it now as you are not allowed to gather rocks and or gems in national parks. When I see it at rock and gem shows I buy it because to me it looks so great in baskets. The basket is all hand stitched with waxed polyester cord and when finished is treated with bees wax to help preserve it for years or generations. The Antler is a shed antler that was picked up off the ground not one that was cut off. I prefer it that way thinking if the pine needles fell on the ground the antlers should too. I stitched some black onyx beads around the base stone to embellish the stone. The basket itself measures approximately 14" x 13" x5' high
It will come with instructions on how to care for it and a cloth bag made especially for it to store it in. It is signed, dated and numbered by me. This is truly a one of a kind work of art designed and created by me.
