I make this seashell jewelry from beads of the purple part of the Quahaug Clam Shell. This shell has time tested cultural significance to the American Indians of Northeastern America. Designs of white (wompampeague) and purple (suckahock) beads are prized by the American Indian as a symbol of wealth, power and are used to sanctify their wedding vows.

The hard clam (Mercenaria mercenaria), also known as the round clam, hard-shell (or hard-shelled) clam, or the quahog,[a] is an edible marine bivalve mollusk that is native to the eastern shores of North America and Central America from Prince Edward Island to the Yucatán Peninsula.

The most distinctive of these names is quahog (/ ˈ k oʊ h ɒ ɡ / KOH-hog, / ˈ k w ɔː h ɒ ɡ / KWAW-hog, or / k w ə ˈ h ɒ ɡ / kwə-HOG, also spelt quahaug, quohog or cohog). The word comes from the Narragansett word "poquauhock", which is similar in Wampanoag and some other Algonquian languages.
