Nascar Champion Dale Earnhardt, Sr., known as the "Intimidator" #3. was an American race car driver and team owner, best known for his involvement in stock car racing for NASCAR. Earnhardt began his career in 1975 when he drove in the 1975 World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of the Winston Cup Series (later the Sprint Cup Series).
Considered one of the best NASCAR drivers of all time, Earnhardt won a total of 76 races over the course of his career, including one Daytona 500 victory in 1998. He earned 7 NASCAR Winston Cup Championships, which is tied for the most all time with Richard Petty. His aggressive driving style earned him the nickname "The Intimidator".
To this day, Earnhardt is the only driver in NASCAR Winston Cup history to follow a Rookie of the Year title with a NASCAR Winston Cup Championship the next season. He was the second driver in NASCAR history to win both the Rookie of the Year and Cup Series championship in his career.
Born April 29, 1951 in Kannapolis, North Carolina, United States, died at the young age of 49 on February 18, 2001, in the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 race in Daytona Beach, Florida, US, doing what he loved RACING!!!
