Do you accept credit cards????

Not sure if this has been discussed or not,but I have come across a great way to accept credit cards. Intuit gopayment. com. They have reasonable rates and the best is NO MONTHLY Fees. You only pay when you use it. They offer a free card swiper that works with quite a few cellphones. Otherwise, you can download an app for your cell phone and enter the info there. Being it comes from intuit if you use quickbooks as your accounting software, the transactions then download to your quickbooks.

Hi everyone. I need some advice. I currently only do craft shows but am working on an Etsy shop and on selling on other sites. So, I want to get a website where I can list the sites I sell on and future shows and then only need to put that one URL on my business cards. I also want to start a blog so that would be with the same site. So, can anyone recommend the best hosting company to go with? I have done so much research that my head is about to explode. If you can recommend one or tell me which to avoid that would be really helpful. Thank you very much.

Captivating Arrangements

Would anyone who attended the "Old Market Day" in Chambersburg, PA tell their opinion of it as a crafter/vendor. I noticed that it only had a 2 star rating and that really makes me hesitant to join. North Carolina Getting the Last Laugh

We knew that the great state of Tennessee has been cracking down on Craft Show Vendors (yep, you and me) to send them sales tax on our gross sales. Some places even make you keep a log of all sales. We didn't used to collect it - a $20 sales was a $20 sale. NOW - we collect. We just got accepted to a new (for us) show in North Carolina. With the acdeptance letter was a letter from the NC Dept of Revenue. The acceptance letter advised us that the promotor sned a list of all vendors AND their Sales and Use Tax number to the State of NC and would we please send them our number - they also told us how to get said number. OK, NC folks, we WILL be collecting Sales Tax from y'all. Oh, forgot to mention - Wife and I are retired and this is just a little stick money to help us out. Now that some states are forcing us to collect tax means that they will forward this information to IRS and that means that the Federal Government will get in our business again. Pay the additional income tax on our meager sales (and all the other headaches it entails) or stop crafting - that has now become the question for a good number of crafters I have talked to lately. What do y'all think. Fred

Gel Candles

First I want to take this opportunity to say I love FNO and all it has to offer us. To say I make gel candles is so underrating it can’t begin to explain what I do. I am an artist. Everything I make is so unique it will never be seen at Walmart or Target! Every candle design is a limited edition. I produce only 1 to 5 of the same type. All of them weigh a pound or more. Shipping cost is never less than $12. Because they’re made of gel they cannot be shipped in summer. Their prices range between $10 and approximately $100. So some of my candles can be sold at craft prices. This means I can go to both craft shows and strictly art shows. I am the CEO of my own lifestyle. I can decide to do to when I want and not have anyone else decide for me. I don’t have to call in sick or ask to get the day off. My business has excellent customer service as well as a four day or less shipping policy. But the bottom line is: I love what I do! I never arrive at work late. With my 35 years in finance and customer service there is no part of what I do I can’t handle. So now I have to prepare for my upcoming Art show. New to Community, need some advice please.

I am excited to be apart of your community. I would like to start by saying I am wondering what the best way to go about choosing the right events to go to. I am on a budget for spending fees on events as a vendor. I am just starting out and have bought an RV to travel the next 2 months up the east coast to promote and sell my items. How big of a problem is this? My first buyer turned out to be one of those people not quite grown yet and entertaining themselves with pranks. "Buyer" never paid, gave 3 days and sent email, no response. Checked out info on buyer address, a college, phone number the internet cafe at the college. Name Sara Lee, ya, right I thought this site would be safe from all of that, I know it is big on Craigs List,. How much trouble is this and does anyone ever sell anything from this site?

CALL for ARTISTS: Art in the Park Omak WA Artisans and Craftspersons are invited to participate in the 40th annual Art in the Park at Omak Civic League Park sponsored by Omak Kiwanis and Artists’ of the Okanogan. Omak is located in North Central Washington.On Friday June 13th & Saturday June 14th, Art in the Park at Omak Civic League Park will showcase the best contemporary fine art and craft from around the Pacific Northwest. Approximately 100 artists will fill Civic League Park, downtown Omak’s premiere outdoor venue with an outdoor art exhibition that has been a community event for 40 years with an average of 1200 visitors in attendance. Artists are selected on the basis of quality, originality, and craftsmanship by a panel of jurors. We are looking forward to an incredible show. DEADLINE: Applications are being accepted through May 10th 2014. The entry fee is $35.00 for each artist or craft booths and $50.00 for food vendors. Booth sizes are approximately 12x12. Double booth spaces are allowed. All proceeds benefit children's programs sponsored by Omak Kiwanis and Artists' of the Okanogan. The event brings in a crowd, mostly for the featured entertainment. Perhaps the food sold better for people eat, but the price tag is over priced. Crafted goods was over loaded with too many selling the same cheap manufactured items at high prices. Great place for getting your name out in the public, with sales low.

The crafter, Diana, started this as an alternative to the expensive shows, and she's getting a lot of new comers, like myself. She has the fair in a church parking lot on a busy street corner the last Sat of each month; she's been doing so well that she has started a second event, a flea market, at the same location on the second Sat of each month. She charges $25 for a 10 x 10 space and donates the entry fee to her church. She only asks that the vendor bring a little something to help out on the day like toilet paper, papertowels, baked item. crafter/artist/vendor needs ride to events in Catskills area

I have a ton of jewelry I made from metal,gemstone etc. Can Google my info and see it online under Artzstuf,my company name as have an online store that ships too. Sadly I don't get to too many fests,fairs,etc.to sell it as have no driver's license as lived near city before and didn't need one as got around by bus and train well. I live rural now with a bus line that runs a few days a week to limited area. People keep to selves here. I have paid some people to help me with jewelry as a barter. Two events coming up want to get to. Your ideas are welcomed as to how I can get around this hurdle as I( make nice jewelry at great prices and do paintings. It is well received and does sell when it is seen!

Trying to get the different classifications in my head:

I am considering [R&D time] vending at Cat Shows in my State [CA] only. My aim would be inexpensive items that would be attractive to children: I intend to offer Pet related items for kids. [cat, dog, rabbit, etc] Posters, trading cards, stickers, color books, toys, stuffed cats, pet-blankies, kids-jewelry, etc. Now my question is: I figured out what was meant by Buy/Sell vendors. I will have items that I bought [Posters/Stickers/Cards/color books] and also handmade items [stuffed toys/pet-blankies/kid's jewelry] but not made by me. Is there an "accepted way" to discribe my 'vending classification'? There is no need to do that at the Cat Shows -but if I wanted to expand to doing Arts & Craft Events ....does it make a difference to the promoter?

I am currently trying to find the best solution for power for my booth. I am a handcrafted soapmaker and have small christmas lights around five tables. I also will be getting a Visa machine. I have been told by other crafters that a marine battery, a power inverter and a battery charger is what I need. Has anyone ever used this type of power supply? Any recommendations as far as brands go? Thanks!

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie in this forum as well as in dealing with our product. My boss had a large inventory of Gemstones (Amethyst, Quartz, Pyrites, etc.)as well as collectible pieces and jewelries. I am wondering why he doesn't sell that much. Had it something to do with the economy or not is it just that few people have interest on them. The warehouse at the back of the office right now is overloaded with these items. Even his internet site doesn't sell..... Really need advise on this... Thanks a lot for creating this forum
